Focus on Tirau

Located in South Waikato, Tirau is just over two hours from Auckland, less than 40mins from Rotorua or Tauranga and just over an hour from Taupo.

It is a vibrant little town, which provides tourists and passing motorists with a wide variety of cafes and restaurants and offers a unique shopping experience, with everything from art, jewellery and clocks to antiques, fine wines and wool products.

There’s no doubt however, that the point of difference in this town is the corrugated iron signage, which is produced locally and now adorns most of the shops. And if you’re a tourist in town, it’s not possible to miss the Information Centre, which is housed in a large corrugated iron dog, next door to the large corrugated iron sheep!
