About Blockhouse Bay:
Blockhouse Bay is a family oriented suburb, with a vibrant community atmosphere and an attractive village feel to it. The housing is predominately 1960s and 1970s style built on large sections, making it an ideal place to raise a family. In recent years there has been the addition of more modern style housing as some of the larger sections have been subdivided. The south west side of the Bay is particularly sought-after for its beautiful views of the Manukau Harbour.
The local schools are well regarded with many families in the area sending their children to the local primary and intermediate schools. Blockhouse Bay Intermediate and Lynfield College are particularly well supported.
One of the great advantages of Blockhouse Bay is its proximity to Titirangi and the surrounding parks, walkways and beaches located just a short drive from the village itself. These are definitely 'hot spots' in the summer time with many people from the community meeting here for picnics and barbeques.
Blockhouse Bay Shopping:
With no big shopping complexes in sight the locals tend to support the village shops which cover all of the necessities as well as a variety of cafes and eating places.
