About Beach Haven:
Beach Haven is the one of the last affordable coastal locations on the North Shore. This little suburb is a delighful secret, one that the locals keep quietly to themselves. Within a short distance, there is access to the upper harbour , local bush walks, and wharves for fishing. Swimming is accessable from several beaches, in small coves tucked away along the coast line. some locals have their boats moored, with direct access from their properties.For those who like bush walks there are several that wind through the Shepherds Park area, and feature the Landing and the Maori midden site. As you wind your way upwards enjoy the expansive views of the estuary and upper harbour.
Recreational activities also include, tennis,lawn bowls, squash as well as large playing fields, for soccer, league and cricket.
Beach Haven Shopping:
Beach Haven shops are an eclectic array of Cafes, takeaways, a charity shop and La Maison du Chocolat, where you can purchase gourmet confectionary delights. Not far from this area, is Birkenhead, where you can shop in the fashion stores. Most of the major banks are situated here, as well as supermarkets.
Transport:
Beach Haven is served by Birkenhead Transport along all the main roads through the suburb. The routes will take you to Glenfield, Birkenhead, Takapuna and the city centre. From Birkenhead wharf you can catch the ferry into town, and many people take the park and ferry option. Relax in the cafe, on the wharf and order breakfast while you wait for the ferry to town.

At the local Verrans Corner, there are several fine restaurants and cafes. Fernz Motor Lodge also provides accomodation as well as fully licenced dining. For mediterranean fare The Refinery Cafe has relaxed outdoor tables, and covered indoor seating.Nearby Birkenhead offers a great variety of ethnic restaurants, such as Japanese, Indian, Korean, Thai and Italian. Great little cafes are also dotted through out the town.
