Mairangi Bay is a residential, seaside suburb with a distinct village-like character. Located on Auckland’s North Shore, the area is still within reasonable commuting distance of Auckland City. Mairangi Bay has a real mixture of housing, from renovated 1950s houses to modern, unique designer homes, to apartments and stunning cliff-top properties with amazing water views.
Families living in Mairangi Bay have access to some excellent local primary and intermediate schools and Rangitoto College is the area’s most sought-after high school. There are also good public transport links to many of Auckland’s private schools further afield.
The main draw card in Mairangi Bay is the beach which locals use for swimming, watersports or just relaxing. For younger children there is a popular playground just beside the beach. There are also a number of community sports and social clubs including tennis and bowls, and the Mairangi Arts Centre offers a variety of day and evening classes. Nearby Murrays Bay has a yacht club - a hub for boating enthusiasts - where some of New Zealand’s finest sailors began their careers.
