About Bryndwr:

Bryndwr is a residential suburb with a mix of housing that shows the periods in which it was developed. It was first subdivided from Bryndwr Farm in the late 19th century, and then developed further in the 1920s to 1950s. Suburbs around it are Fendalton, Ilam, Burnside, Strowan and Papanui.
It has good parks and facilities including Jellie Park Aqualand and a Council Service Centre and Library. The University of Canterbury is 5 minutes away in neighbouring Ilam. Bryndwr is about 10 minutes away from the central city, Northlands and Riccarton Malls, and the Airport.

There are two larger shopping areas with supermarkets and a few smaller neighbourhood shopping areas with corner dairies.

Bryndwr is well served by the Burnside 120, Bryndwr 17 and Orbiter O bus routes which link to the central city and suburban malls.
