About the Opawa Community
About Opawa:
True Opawa is an older leafy suburb of Christchurch. It is full of character homes of all sizes and was the home of many historic Christchurch families. Today it is complimented by some newer homes...generally infill townhouses. The Heathcote river meaners through Opawa. Opawa has grown in recent years and seems to have adopted part of Woolston into it. This part of Opawa is full of character homes (although often not the same majestic size and arguably quality as true Opawa) with modern townhouses dotting around the area.
Easy access to the City centre (about 5 to 10 mins drive, depending on traffic)
Opawa Shopping:
Opawa has a small residental retail area in Opawa Road, which provides for those quick daily needs. It is very handy to the St Martins Mall for traditional weekly supplies (about 1 to 2 kms away) and this Mall has a large New World, Westpac, Pharmacy and likes.
Transport:
Opawa is serviced by the ChCh bus service. It is about 10 mins to Town.
Eating Out:
There is a takeaway outlet in Opawa Road. Opawa has an aray of food outlets in close neighbouring suburbs, these include Pizza, Cafes, and Local Taverns.
