Located within the compact town centre, Wanaka's shops are easily accessible. You will find everything you need, from local arts and crafts, fine food and wine, clothing and shoes to groceries and all general services such as banks and a post office.
Transport:
There is a neat system of carpooling so you can get a lift between Wanaka, Hawea, Luggate and Cromwell. It's called Wanaride and run by sustainable Wanaka. There are also daily buses to Queenstown and Cromwell, and further afield to Dunedin and Christchurch. And Wanaka has a great little airport to wing you away to Christchurch and Queenstown if you prefer.

Eating Out:
Wanaka has a great choice of eateries ranging from cheap n cheerful Indian takeouts to the very best of food. There are over 20 restaurants and cafes, catering to swelling numbers of tourists and locals alike. On Sunday afternoon at 4.00pm you can get free sausage sizzle with onions and tomato sauce in the park by the lake, courtesy of the local churches!
