Regional Area Information
About Feilding:
Voted New Zealand's "Most Beautiful Town" 14 times, it's not suprising that 14,000 people chose to reside here. Housing is affordable, the lifestyle is relaxing and friendly, there are no traffic lights, free parking is provided while you shop and all the benefits of a major city are just 20 kms away.
Situated in the lower half of the North Island, the Manawatu District covers an area of 2,780 square kilometres. The District is bounded by two rivers (the Rangitikei in the north and the Manawatu in the south), the Ruahine Ranges to the east and the Tasman Sea to the west.
Many great schools are in Feilding including Feilding High School. Feildng High School is a modern co-educational high school that sets very high academic standards for its students. Feilding High School has outstanding facilities and spacious, attractive grounds. They have an attached boarding hostel, L J Wild House, which caters for 160 students. The school also has two farms which support our extensive curriculum.
Friendly Feilding is a great place to be and is certainly worthy of your attention.
Feilding Shopping:
The main central shopping area in Feilding radiates from Manchester Square.
New commercial buildings contrast with the carefully preserved heritage styles, and the broad thoroughfare of Kimbolton Road emphasises the overall effect of dignified charm of this rural servicing town. With many owner/operator businesses, the shops offer a uniqueness and variety of choice not seen in the city. The friendly customer service complements the ongoing upgrading of the central streets recognising the rural and heritage history of Feilding. With no traffic lights or parking meters, shoppers are encouraged to park as long as they wish, while enjoying their relaxed shopping experience.
Locally grown fresh produce and added value products are all sold by the producers at the Farmers Market in Manchester Square, Feilding, every Friday from 9am till 2pm. Stalls include chicken, venison, eggs, wine, patè, fudge, preserves, flowers, plants, baking, breads, seasonal fruits and veggies, herbal teas and products, pesto and hummus and much more.
