About the Witherlea Community

About Witherlea:

Witherlea is Blenheim's most southern suburb and arguably one of the most popular residential areas in which to live. Its prime geographical feature is its elevation looking over the township. Given Blenheim is predominantly flat land on the Wairau Valley, the Witherlea position is a distinct attraction and tends to boost value and demand for this area.

The houses are a mix of well established homes built in the 1970's, and as the suburb pushed further up the foothills, progressively more modern, architecturally designed homes.

The local council is a significant partner to the development of Witherlea with its initiative to create a major subdivision known as "Forest Park". A massive amount of new homes have been constructed in this subdivision and further development is planned.

Witherlea Primary is one of only a few zoned schools in Blenheim, and this has been a significant drawcard for families. A bonus to residents is the Omaka aerodrome, located due West, where the popular Classic Wings Air Show is held every two years. Witherlea residents enjoy front row seats!

Witherlea Shopping:

The local Alana Shopping Centre has a dairy, takeaways and hair stylist. However, central Blenheim is only a 5 minute drive for more serious shopping requirements.

Transport:

The Blenheim Bus (free to over 65's) provides transport to the Blenheim township, Monday to Friday excluding Public Holidays, at designated times during the day. Marlborough Taxis run 24/7 throughout the Marlborough area.

Eating Out:

A short drive or taxi to town delivers a choice of restaurants and bars. While a brief journey into the Wairau Valley will reward you with award winning Marlborough wines, on location, at the winery. A number of wineries provide lunches and platters with evening meals, normally during the Summer season.
