About the Hope Community
About Hope:
Just 2-3km south of Richmond on the main road lies Hope, a suburb located right on the very arable and fertile Waimea Plains, home to many many wineries.
Although mainly flat, in recent years more homes have been popping up on the slopes of the nearby foothills to the East. With views over the plains and out onto Tasman Bay it's hardly surprising. Sunview Heights is a very upmarket subdivision that has taken shape over the last 5 years and showcases many local builders highest quality in homes.
The area has two main schools, Hope School on Paton Rd and on the suburbs western most boundaries, Appleby School, just off the Appleby Highway.
In recent years many of the regions farmers have replaced traditional pipfruit orchards with grapes.
Hope Shopping:
On Main Rd at Hope there is a local neighbourhood dairy. On the northern outskirts at Three Brothers corner there's also another dairy. Richmonds main shopping centre & Shopping Mall is only 2-3km away to the north.

Currently there are no regular or scheduled public bus services to or from Hope.

Hope's most awarded bar in recent years, the Bedford Bar & Cafe,would be the closest eatery here. look out for the vintage Bedford Truck out front - you can't miss it! The Brightwater Tavern is 4km away to the south. And 2-3km north is the town of Richmond. Here you will find many restaurants and cafes.
