About Kerikeri:
Kerikeri, a small town rich in history and well known for its horticulture has experienced tremendous growth over the last couple of years. The stunning natural beauty of the area, its close proximity to the beautiful beaches of the Bay of Islands and Doubtless Bay and its temperate climate have attracted national and international interest in the area as a place to settle.
Due to the burgeoning population, Kerikeri has a number of pre-schools, four primary schools, a high school and two private schools.
Kerikeri Shopping:
Kerikeri town centre has a wide range of stores from fashion, to furniture and food. The town has two major brand supermarkets as well as smaller specialty shops, such as butchers, a specialists UK shop which caters to the large UK population of the town and a number of health food stores. Only a short distance from Kerikeri is the newly developed Waipapa Retail Centre which has many large brand stores including, Noel Leeming and The Warehouse, as well as specialty stores such as Innocence, which caters for infants, and Pet Passion, the local Pet shop. This area is still undergoing development and is set to see more shops established in 2009. Fresh produce and locally sourced food is available at the Farmers Market held every Sunday in the Town Centre. A vast array of fresh vegetables, olive oils, wines and other locally produced are available. Kerikeri also has its own boutique chocolate factory, a popular choice with both locals and tourists alike.
Eating Out:
There are a number of cafes, bars and restaurants throughout the town. These cater to families, those wanting a quiet night out or those wanting to get out and let their hair down. The range of food is just as diverse from takeaways to pizza restaurants to gourmet fare with international flavours.
