About Tamahere:

Tamahere is a rapidly growing rural community on the southern outskirts of Hamilton city. The area is bisected by State Highway 1 between Hamilton and Cambridge.

Tamahere's approximately 4000 residents live on lifestyle blocks ranging in size from around 5000 sq metres to commercial farms. Opinion surveys show that resident enjoy Tamahere for the rural lifestyle with space, tranquility and low-density living combined with the convenience of nearby city commercial, recreational and social services.

Much social activity centres around Tamahere School, a State primary school (Decile 10), and the community centre (hall for hire). On the same grounds are tennis courts, sports fields, and a Playcentre (parent-run pre-school). A pre-school childcare centre is adjacent to the school grounds.

The popular, monthly Tamahere Country Market, held on the grounds of the central Tamahere, Anglican, St Stephen's Church, is also a community and social hub. It is held the third Saturday of each month.

Tamahere is moments away from the Mystery Creek Events Centre, known for the annual National Agricultural Fieldays held each June, and the Christian Parachute music festival in January.
